Apparel will remain a particularly vulnerable segment of the retail industry in 2020 because there are still too many clothing stores amid the growing popularity of secondhand and vintage-wear, according to a report by turnaround firm AlixPartners LLP.
Last year, apparel sellers accounted for a bigger proportion of bankruptcy filings compared with other types of retailers, AlixPartners Managing Directors David Bassuk and Joel Bines said in the report this week.
