[ロンドン １３日 ロイター] - チョコレートなどの原料となるカカオ豆は、主要生産国であるコートジボワールとガーナからの供給が細るとの観測から価格が再び高騰し、過去最高値に迫っている。

カカオ豆の価格は年初から２倍に跳ね上がり、足元では多くの金属よりも高い水準となっている。米インターコンチネンタル取引所（ＩＣＥ）のニューヨーク・カカオ豆先物９月限は１３日の終値が前日比２．６％高のトン当たり１万０１１０ドルと、６週間前につけた高値の１万０３０８ドルまであと一歩となった。

チョコレート業界は、世界最大のカカオ豆生産国であるコートジボワールが６月分の輸出と来シーズンの先売りを停止したことで供給不足が深刻化。第２位の生産国ガーナが不作を理由に来シーズンに向けて最大３５万トンの受け渡しを遅らせる可能性があるとの１２日の報道が追い打ちとなった。

専門家によると、ブラジルやエクアドルなど、新たに業界に参入したアフリカ以外の生産国のカカオ豆が市場に流通するようになるにはあと数年かかる見通し。

市場関係者は「大問題だ。コートジボワールとガーナはカカオ豆のサイズが昨年比で３０％小さくなっている。不足分を補う手段がなく、目先の供給量は不足している」と話した。
